Surface Fire Index Test

The SABS recently did a Surface Fire Index test (SANS 10177 Part 3: 2005) on a 2 400 mm x 350 mm x 4 mm ALPOLIC / fr panel.

The reason we requested SABS carry out the test, was due to the fact that ALPOLIC / fr had been similarly tested, in many European and Eastern countries, ie, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary, Czech Republic, as well as the U.S.A. and Canada.

AfriClad decided that once ALPOLIC / fr was tested locally by the SABS, the results would remove any doubts Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Fascia Designers, Project Managers, or specifiers may have had, regarding whether or not ALPOLIC / fr met local South African requirements. The test results prove without a doubt, that the product's Fire Retardant claims are all valid.

The following spreadsheet indicates on table 1 of SANS requirements, the Maximum values allowed in terms of the test:

Receiving a Class 1, The ALPOLIC sample clearly surpassed all requirements laid out by the SABS, as is noted on the report.
